Cookies and browser storage
NORUM sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and nothing that follows you to another site. This page lists everything it does keep, what each item is for, and how long it lasts.
The short version

- · Error reporting runs on our servers, not in your browser, so it sets nothing here.
- · Everything below is first-party: it stays in your browser and is read only by NORUM.
- · Nothing here is optional, which is why there is no consent dialogue to dismiss. There is nothing you could switch off that would leave NORUM working.

You can delete all of it at any time by clearing site data in your browser. NORUM will still work — you will be signed out and it will have forgotten your language.
The rules this is written against
NORUM serves the United States and Canada. What follows is what those rules ask for, and what NORUM does. It is not a claim to be certified against any of them — nobody certifies themselves.
- United States — the state privacy acts
- There is no federal cookie-consent law. California (CCPA as amended by the CPRA) and the Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and Montana acts ask for a notice of what is collected and a way to opt out of the sale or sharing of it. Those words describe advertising and cross-context behavioural tracking. NORUM does neither, so there is nothing to opt out of — which this page says rather than offering a link that would do nothing.
- Canada — PIPEDA
- Asks for meaningful consent to collect personal information, and for it to be explained in terms somebody can actually follow. That is what the table above is for: the real key names, in plain words, rather than a paragraph about "improving your experience".
- Quebec — Law 25
- The strictest of the three. It requires telling people about technology that identifies, locates or profiles them, offering the means to switch it off, and defaulting privacy settings to the highest level. NORUM uses no such technology. That is the honest answer to it, and a better one than a switch that toggles nothing.
